Today we’re going to take on two rings: the Ring of Kerry and the Skellig Ring. We have cherry-picked the best parts of the Ring of Kerry to bring you along as we swoop around the Iveragh Peninsula which juts out into the magnificent Atlantic Ocean.
We’ll leave Kenmare with Kenmare Bay to our left and cycle out along the famous Ring of Kerry via Sneem, Caherdaniel and into Waterville. After lunch in Waterville, we’ll leave the Ring of Kerry behind and branch out onto the Skellig Ring. This remote section of the route is truly stunning; it’s all gently rolling hills and roads that sit low on the coastline. There is one short but steep climb on this section which brings you up onto the high road with some amazing views of the Skelligs and Portmagee. From here we have a long downhill section into Portamgee before crossing the bridge to Valentia Island. Once we reach Valentia, we’ll take the beautiful back road around the island and finish our stage in Knightstown.
