Founded in 1959 and has been at its current locationon the Murvagh peninsula since 1976. Sometimes living in the shadow of famous Co Sligo Golf Club down the road, this is a fantastic Links and one which I have always enjoyed playing. Stunning scenery from the mountains out across beautiful Donegal Bay, this is a real joy of a Links to play.
Many holes here are flanked by the dunes, the course never looks crowded.
This time it’s the green that’s protected, great variation here.
The dunes protect the fairway but I’m afraid they don’t protect the green!
Untypically you have to carry the ball to the putting surfaces here more than normal.
It’s all carry onto this elevated green, take an extra club, trust me!
Another example of how you’ve to carry the ball all the way. Tough when the winds behind you!
Looking back towards picturesque Donegal Town. Where my sister Barbara lives!
